The truth about a river is that it simply is a river, it is what it is. It does not quicken or slow down according to the wishes of those crossing and riding it. Neither does it try to flow in different directions other than that determined by its own nature. It serves no other purpose than being itself. Nonetheless, where ever one develops, life, in all its expressions, gravitates towards it to inhabit its banks and dwell in its vicinity. Similarly, those concentrated on fulfilling their visions and living their passion, are those who serve as an example; a blueprint for beauty, play, and lasting contentment. Not only is being yourself enough, but it makes the difference to those watching, as joy does not go by unnoticed.
Beauty resides in all; no tulip attempts to become a rose, nor does a rose struggle to resemble an orchid. Each and every one of us is born with a unique spark, and the significance we give to our happiness is different from anyone else’s. Even so, we discredit what excites our spirit, simply because it isn’t recognized by others. Our hearts and minds conform to what society thinks we should pursue. We fit ourselves into the identical 9 to 5 routine, we work in similar cubicles, we covet the same handful of advertised brands and share a uniform view of life promoted by social institution. Silently, our will wanes and the potential to make this garden we call world richer, by the beauty of our uniqueness, simply withers away. We forget that, as Ernest Renan once explained, ‘man makes holy what he believes, as he makes beautiful what he loves’.
Attention is key and the world is simply what we imagine it to be. We stop being the river, and instead become a pool of water that, in its stillness, merely reflects the flow of others walking past it, till it one day evaporates in bitterness and resentfulness. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that ‘to be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment’. The journey of Cordelia Chase is an exquisite exposition of the usefulness of each step we take in living and rediscovering ourselves.
TheInnerCat's Dream Catchers are not entirely traditional, we are inspired by them but we also take our inspiration from other things.
Traditionally, the Dream Catchers were used to protect the individual during sleep from bad dreams, acting like a watcher. The so-called ''bad'' dreams are caught up in the web while the ''good'' dreams pass through the centre of the dream catcher and down to the dreamer.
Bad dreams are influenced dreams, causing unnecessary nightmares. Good dreams are the pure dreams of the dreamer, negative or positive.
With our dream catchers we aim to create not just any dream catcher, but ones that will anchor you to whatever you want it to. Nothing on it's own has any power or meaning, we are the ones who give it to it and charge it.
